THE FUND Awards More Than 50 Scholarships to Children of West Palm Beach Police Officers

THE FUND proudly celebrated the academic achievements of more than 50 student scholars during the Annual West Palm Beach Scholarship Awards Breakfast, recognizing the children of West Palm Beach Police officers with $4,000 scholarships to support their post-high school education at colleges, universities, and technical school programs.

Palm Beach Atlantic University hosted the event in its beautiful new Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall, marking the first event held in the University’s newest academic building. Scholarship recipients, their families, and supporters enjoyed a gourmet breakfast sponsored by Florida Power & Light (FPL) and gathered to celebrate academic excellence and the promising futures of these outstanding students.

The ceremony was led by THE FUND Board President Bill Bone. Board Chair Al Adelson welcomed guests and introduced keynote speaker and Board Vice Chair Bob Garvy. A former Chair of the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees, Garvy delivered an inspiring message, encouraging students to embrace every opportunity while keeping life’s true priorities in focus. Comparing life to a juggling act, he reminded students that while careers are like a rubber ball that can bounce back from setbacks, family, health, friends, and spirit are like fragile glass balls that must always be protected.

The Scholarship Program is one of THE FUND’s most meaningful initiatives, recognizing and rewarding the academic achievements of students whose parents serve the West Palm Beach Police Department. Through these scholarships, THE FUND honors the dedication and sacrifice of our officers while investing in the next generation.

THE FUND extends its appreciation to its members and donors, whose generosity makes the Scholarship Program possible. Special thanks to the dedicated Scholarship Committee for its leadership and commitment to this important program: Brittany Morrison, Chair; Rob Frisbie, Vice Chair; Bill Bone; Bob Garvy; Ann-Marie Taylor; Major Emily Wiggs; and Tom Zacharias.

Congratulations to each of this year’s scholarship recipients. We are proud to support your educational journey and look forward to seeing all you accomplish in the years ahead.
